Muqaddar Ka Sikandar Review

Nothing quite hits the spot like a classic Amitabh Bachchan movie... and this one is a blockbuster from 1978 that delivers:   Amitabh in a white track suit, Amitabh singing while riding around on his motorcycle in a leather jacket, Amitabh beating up goons in bars tricked out in 70's style with cheesy music and bad sound effects, the best buddy relationship that proves more emotional than the male-female relationships, the tortured love triangle, the evil goon who rides around in a van replete with mustard yellow curtains and rotating fans, the beautiful courtesan in love with a man who doesn't love her in return, the famous Amitabh-Rekha chemistry, the poor orphan who becomes rich beyond his wildest dreams, the mother who sacrifices everything for her children, and more bad fake blood than a Halloween Party.  It ends in a tragic mashup beyond what's usually feasible even by Bollywood standards.  Jared walked in at that point, highly amused (I won't ruin the ending by telling you what happens) and said, "I have no idea what's going on or how or why everyone is related to each other."  Which means you'll just have to see it for yourself in order to experience the cool and the hip that is 70's Amitabh.
